Wizz Air has founded a new scheduled airline with base at Abu Dhabi International Airport - a joint venture with state-owned Abu Dhabi Development Holding (ADDH).
It will start flying at the beginning of 2021 with two Airbus A321neo aircraft, increasing to 50 aircraft over the next 10 years.
The carrier, named Wizz Air Abu Dhabi, will be the first Air Operator Certificate that Wizz Air has received outside Europe.
The new airline has been assigned the 3-letter IATA code "5W" and the ICAO code - "WAZ".
Wizz Air Abu Dhabi will initially operate 6 direct flights from Abu Dhabi along with 5 more routes operated by Wizz Air Hungary.
The new airlines comes as Air Arabia Abu Dhabi are starting operations in July with flights to Alexandria and Sohag in Egypt.
Air Arabia will compete directly with Wizz Air on flights between the capital of the UAE and Alexandria.
The new flights will start in October and will be operated according to the bellow schedule. The schedule may be subject to changes.
